Our apologies, maintaining these updates anything better than a month or so periodicity has proven an incredible struggle. There has been a major second wave outbreak here in Maryland, where containment was breached at one of the core research centers in the center of the state. Patient # 1 – Judy, who carries one of the most virulent strains we know of, escaped and infected numerous researchers and others in and around Frederick, Maryland, a huge setback. The results of this cannot be underestimated; we had as many new ZTBs spawned in minutes as we did in the first few weeks of the initial infection. Th east coast of the United States is under siege, with over 1560 reports in Maryland alone since we last reported, and high counts up and down the coast including 432 reports in Massachusetts and 610 reports in Florida. Even the heavily fortified District of Columbia had 54 hits. States as far away as Hawaii suffered an uptick (there were 48 reports there). Things are looking grim in North America.
While normally we see something of a reduction of activity in the northern hemisphere during Winter, thus far that has not been the case. We are seeing an increase in activity in Europe, with 675 reports in hard-hit Germany, and 152 reports from Austria, and 298 reports from France. The UK, Hungary, Greece, Portugal all had greater than thirty new reports. The spread continues in Australia as well, where there were 94 new sightings. We are still seeing an upward trend everywhere. Be safe out there.
